What can you do?

Talk about it:

  • Make sure your community is aware of LD1205 and the harm it could cause.

    • Most people simply don’t know what the terms of this bill mean. We’re trying to educate as many people as possible about the potential issues caused by LD1205.

  • If your district representative is on the Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee, reach out to them and share what you’ve learned about LD1205.

    • Step 1. Click Here to Find Your Representative

    • Step 2. Verify your representative is on the Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee.

      • If your district representative is on the committee, reach out to connect with your representative. It is normal to request a casual and friendly meeting with your district representative to discuss matters of importance. Many representatives do not have much background on this bill and the potential damage it could cause. Reaching out to share this information with them and state your concerns provides your representative an opportunity to speak on your behalf to state officials.

      • If your district representative is not on the committee, hang tight. We may need you to reach out to your representative later, but the most powerful thing you can do is offer a written testimony to the committee. (see below)

Write about it:

  • Prepare a letter of testimony to share with the committee.

    • The online submission form is not live yet, but you can draft your letter in advance. ONLINE SUBMISSION LINK COMING SOON.

  • MACPM is contacting legislators directly to urge them to not let LD1205 pass through committee. We ask that the community to consider patience at this time regarding reaching out to your local district representatives. We’ll need this form of outreach if the bill passes committee, so hang tight. We believe that providing a written testimony to the committee will be the best next step where we could really use your help. (see below)
